It's been over a year now since I posted something new on my blog. It is not that I didn't do anything, but to be fair, my wargaming hobby was on a much lower level then it used to be.
I will try to post more regular from now on, but don't expect a weekly message! Once a month will do (I hope).
My figure painting for this year is at the lowest since 2012. Well, time to do something about that!
But, first I'll post a few pictures of recently painted figs.
Here are a few late medieval plastic Perry Mins from the AO range, I painted for a young family member. He (age 9) was very interested when he noticed my painting desk, so what better to do then paint a few for him as a birthday present!
The pictures are not that great, but I was in a hurry before "delivery", later that same day. In the distance you can see what I'm currently working on for my own. Yes, it's more plastic Perry's but from another range...

Just a short notice and some pictures.
As the title says, some pictures below of what I've recently painted.
Two units of French infantry, 24 figs each.
They are Perry Mins plastics and the start of what should become a division for Quatre Bras. This could take a while though.
And what I think will be the last unit of Spartans. At least for now. I have three more of these units, for a total of 144 Spartan hoplites.
36 figs of mixed armour, from no armour to heavy bronze armour, Foundry Miniatures.
I'm currently working on a 15mm project, but It might take longer then I thought before this is ready.
More to come when I find the time, and have something to show!

The last of the Dutch-Belgians (for now).
First of all, a bit late but a happy new year to my dear blog readers! I was planning to post earlier, but as they say, real live intervened.
As the title says, YES, after a very long time, I finaly could finish the last few things I had yet to paint for my Dutch-Belgian Napoleonic army!
Two more guns and two brigade commanders. The commanders and one gun were ready just before the end of the year, but I wanted to show them only when I had them all painted. Which happened last weekend.
So here are one foot gun and one horse gun, both 6 pounders.
The one on your right is the foot gun, should you want to know.
Meaning I now have two artillery batteries!
The army is initialy build to use with the Black Powder rulesset from Warlord Games. In these rules it is said that an artillery battery is only one gun, but I think that this does not look good. So two guns per battery it will be.
Ah yes, there are also the last two commanders to paint.
They are on your left Mjr.-Gen. Jean-Baptiste Van Merlen, commander of the Dutch-Belgian 2nd light cavalry brigade. And on your right Mjr.-Gen. Willem Frederik Van Bylandt, commander of the 1st brigade, 2nd Dutch-Belgian infantry Division.
As usual, all miniatures are Perry Miniatures.
Now that I have a more or less complete army, I'm in doubt if I should spend some more money and get me two artillery limbers also? I'll think about that.
I will post some pictures of the complete army in the near future. I hope to find the time next weekend, but we'll see about that.

The Nassau project.
Finaly! My Nassau brigade for Quatre Bras is ready for action.
I've just checked my own blog, and the first battalion of this brigade was painted more then 2 years ago. Shocking it took so long! My main problem is one that many wargamers have I think: being a wargame butterfly, and shifting from one period to another game. And sometimes back again. Just check my blog and see what I've been doing since I'm blogging.
But without further delay, here are the pictures.
As before, all from the loveley Perry Miniatures range.
I'm currently painting a few more things that were missing, to complete the whole 2nd Netherland infantry division. So, yet more Napoleonics coming soon!
With a little luck, even before the end of this year.

But without further delay, here are the pictures.
1st battalion, 2nd regiment of Nassau. As all other battalions, this was a large battalion, consisting of almost 900 men. So 36 figures strong.
2nd Battalion, 2nd regiment of Nassau. Also 36 figures strong.
3rd Battalion, 2nd regiment of Nassau. Another large 36 figures unit. I gave these white trousers, such as they wore earlier in Spain. There are several discussions about the trousers of this unit. Prescription was green trousers at the time of the Waterloo campaign, but it is not sure if all units got green trousers in time. So just for variety...
And finaly a picture of the complete brigade.
3 Battalions of the 2nd Nassau regiment.
2 Battalions of the 28th Orange-Nassau regiment
1 company of Orange-Nassau Volunteer Jaegers
And including their commander, Major-General Prinz Bernard von Saxe-Weimar.
That's a total of 4 large 36 figures units, 1 standard 24 figures unit and a tiny unit of just 6 figures. As before, all from the loveley Perry Miniatures range.

More coming soon.
It's been a while, but I just wanted to show what I've been painting recently.
Command bases for my Napoleonic Dutch-Belgian troops. As usual all Perry Miniatures.
The "wound" markers are also ready.
Three bases, one for each upcoming battalion of the 2nd regiment. Those are being build as "large" battalions in (our) Black Powder terms, so each regiment will be 36 figures strong.
Already two finished, and currently working on the third. once this is ready, pictures here!
My Dutch-Belgian devision, started many moons ago is nearly finished now. After this regiment, I only need to paint two more guns and two brigade commanders.
Since a few more club members showed interest in Napoleonics, I started painting my own again.
On the other side, I bought quite a few new unpainted Perry's at Crisis past weekend... Another post may follow about Crisis.
As a side note, I also painted a few loose fantasy figures, which will eventualy get there own blog post.

End of the year catch up.
Due to certain other things happening in life, which took more time then I had thought, my blog have been a bit on the back burner. But now, with the end of the year within sight, I wanted to show that I didn't stop painting. Though not as much as I hoped.
First part are some medieval civilians. Mostly Perry from the Agincourt to Orleans and War of the Roses range. The cart and the guys with the boar are made by Old Glory. The wheelbarrow is from Warbases (only £1.00! Really good value for money).
It took more time to paint them then I had hoped, but it is clearly not "rank & file" work. I'm really pleased with the result of most of them though.
Something else that finaly got a layer of paint is this Thracian warrior.
I got it from Karawansaray, the publisher of excellent magazines like Ancient Warfare, Medieval Warfare and Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy. I believe it was cast by Relic Miniatures, but I could be wrong.
That's it for now, but of course, there is more to come.

Greek mythology.
If you like ancient Greek history, like me, you might also like Greek mythology. You know, Jason and the Argonauts, the siege and fall of Troy (Homeros version), and more.
I used Greek mythology as theme for my first warband for Dragon Rampant, the newest rulesset by Dan Mersey (published by Osprey).
I have yet to play my first game, but you need a painted warband for that! So here are pictures of my Centaurs.
Light spearmen or javeliners:
The heavies, armoured and dangerous:
And maybe the even more dangerous female archers:
Add a few heroes / leaders and the warband is ready for battle!
All of the above are from Wargames Foundry's Greek mythology range.
I have to add that 6 of the above miniatures were painted some time ago, and even had a few pictures of them in my blog. To mu own surprise almost two year ago.
While on the theme of Greek mythology, I also build and painted up a unit of Amazones.
These are plastics from Wargames Factory. While fairly easy to paint, they were a bit of a pain to put together, some realy fiddly parts to put on the correct place. of the models. I have parts for 36 more of them (I bought two boxes of these), but I'm not shure when that will happen...
Next up is something I have ment to do since january, so about time I started on them!
I will call it "the Nassau Project", and consists of painting the 3 battalions of the 2nd Nassau-Usingen Regiment. Each 36 figures strong, plus a casualty per battalion. And Prince Bernard of Saxe-Weimar and staff.
Work has just started on the flank companies, as you can see on the last picture.
Now try and keep FOCUS!

PAINTED Napoleonic (Dutch) Belgian cavalry.
These were painted a few months ago, but had yet to appear in full colour on the blog.
So here are the 5th Dutch-Belgian Dragoons for my growing allied army for the Waterloo campaign 1815.
There is also the obligatory "wounded" marker base, which from now on is a bit different then before.
As you can see, there is a small square at one corner of the base. That is not a waterwell, but...

A "dice square"! I don't know how to call it otherwise. I discovered these little helpsome things at the site of Warbases .
All miniatures are Perry Miniatures.
Together with the already painted 6th Hussars, they form the 2nd light brigade. I only have to paint there famous commander, Major-general Jean-Baptiste Van Merlen. Who died at Waterloo.
PS In the title, (Dutch) is in parentheses, because this unit consisted completely out of Belgians.
Next time - soon - it will be ancients again. Gauls/Celts/Galatians to be a bit more precise.

A few pictures of recently painted miniatures.
As the title says, here are a few pictures of freshly painted miniatures.
I painted my first Napoleonic cavalry unit ever, the Dutch 6th Hussars. Lots of detail on these, so it took lots of time to paint them.
Following our Black Powder scale, this is a standard 12 fig unit, plus one casualty base.
All are Perry Miniatures, as are all my Napoleonics.
Next , some artillery for my Dutch-Belgians, a foot battery and a horse battery. (1 gun = 1 battery)
And last for now, the Perry commemorative model for Richard III, killed at the battle of Bosworth in 1485, and which body was found under a parking place on 4 february 2013.
At my blister this, model was called "Return of the King", but for some reason this is changed on the website to "Commemorative Richard III". Why should that be?
As usual, all pictures can be expanded by simply clicking on them.
I hope it won't take too long before a new update. I had a bit of a painters block I guess during summer. And the summer is not yet finished...
